TODAY IN RAGNAROK for January 9, 2012: 

Don Jacobsen of Grygla, Minnesota, is accidentally killed by his half-brother with a spear made of mistletoe. Unfortunately, this is close enough to the mythical death of the Norse god, Balder, to trigger Ragnarok. 

(It wasn’t really an accident. Tom Jacobsen had been wanting to spear his half- brother to death for YEARS.
